Best IVF or Fertility Support Clinic in Toorak, Melbourne
Fertility issues affect many families worldwide and can be very difficult to deal with emotionally as well as physically. Modern medicine has developed certain fertility treatments, but their success rates can vary for every individual. At Aster Chinese Medicine, we provide additional support alongside these modern treatments. This helps us provide a greater chance for success and a more comfortable experience for the couple.
We use ancient Chinese therapies and herbal treatments for the best fertility support. Our fertility specialists give each patient a full consultation to understand their problems. They then recommend a combination of acupuncture, cupping, moxibustion, and herbal remedies to create a personalised care plan for them.
If you are ready for our IVF support, we have a customised treatment plan for you. Acupuncture for IVF support is evidence-based and clinically proven to increase the success rate.
Acupuncture and IVF
Acupuncture helps IVF by reducing stress levels, enhancing blood flow in the uterus, regulating the hormone level, thickening the endometrial lining, supporting follicular development, supporting implantation, etc. It also increases pregnancy and birth rates as well as modulates the immune factors (cytokines).
Preparation for IVF support
Before you plan to do acupuncture/Chinese Herbal Medicine for IVF support, we suggest a 3–6-month preparation time to optimise your health. We use ancient Chinese therapies and herbal treatments for the best fertility support. Our fertility specialists give each patient a full consultation to understand their problems. They then recommend a combination of acupuncture, cupping, moxibustion, and herbal remedies to create a personalised care plan for them which will also include dietary and lifestyle advice.
During the preparation stage, our practitioners will come out with a treatment plan for you. You can benefit from some of the conditions such as an irregular period or no period, no ovulation or irregular ovulation, Endometriosis, PCOS, and an imbalance in hormone levels.
Before and after embryo transfer
Pregnancy can be stressful on the body as it needs to remain in a balanced state to ensure a healthy pregnancy. This is where our therapies are meant to come in. They promote overall physical wellness and emotional stability, which is crucial during fertility treatment. Our acupuncture IVF support clinic also has specialised treatments for pre-embryo transfer and post-embryo transfer. We suggest two acupuncture sessions within 24 hours before and after embryo transfer.
Before embryo transfer, acupuncture helps to increase blood flow to the uterus to nourish the endometrium and move energy (Qi) flow. It also helps the mother to relax prior to the transfer.
After embryo transfer, acupuncture helps improve blood circulation on the endometrium to reduce the discomfort from the transfer procedure and also calm the uterus to support a pregnancy
First trimester of pregnancy after embryo transfer
After embryo transfer and getting a positive result of pregnancy, it is recommended a weekly acupuncture treatment till week 12. Research shows first trimester acupuncture helps to stimulate blood flow to the placenta and nourish the baby. It also strengthens progesterone levels and eases the discomfort in the first trimester such as poor appetite, tiredness, insomnia, nausea, vomiting, headache, and anxiety.
Labour preparation and Labour induction
The best time to prepare for labour is from week 36; we recommend a course of 4 sessions of acupuncture once-a-week treatment. This helps cervical ripening and dilation, shortens the duration of labour, reduces caesarean sections, and enhances the energy level for labour. If the baby is overdue, acupuncture helps to release hormones such as oxytocin and prostaglandins which encourage the baby to move downward in the birth canal.
Postnatal Care
After labour delivery, the mother’s qi (energy) and blood are depleted. Chinese herbal medicine and acupuncture treatment help to restore energy levels and remove old or stasis blood discharge, stop abdominal bleeding, help insufficient lactation, and postnatal depression.
IVF Success Rate
According to the CDC, for women below the age of 35, the average success rate for the first cycle of IVF is around 31%. When the age is older, the success rate drops dramatically. On the other hand, for women older than this age limit or if there are any severe complications, multiple IVF cycles may be required. However, in some instances, even multiple IVF cycles may not be able to ensure a full-term pregnancy.
Research shows that women who have acupuncture sessions can double the success rate than those who only do IVF alone. A 60% more of success rate is reported when women have acupuncture treatments on the day of embryo transfer (before and after).
